Manage Files

The Manage Files tool is a file management system for your course. You can use this tool to organize and upload files associated with your course offering. We recommend that you organize your files into folders, creating a folder for each module of content. The functions you can perform in Manage Files can be divided into the following two categories:

English

Manage Dates

Instructor help topics

The Manage Dates tool enables you to view, edit and offset the date availability, and set the Calendar status of all Content topics and modules, Discussion topics and forums, Dropbox folders, Grades categories and items, News items, and quizzes in your course from one central location.

English

Resetting a layout

If you have customized layouts for individual courses, you can revert a layout to its original layout set by the organization.

You can also rearrange seating layouts by clicking on the seats to turn them on or off.

Adding locations to Calendar events

The Locations tool integrates with Calendar, enabling you to add locations to events you create in the calendar for a specific course or for the organization. Use this functionality to quickly and easily notify students where events are taking place. When a calendar event has an associated location, the location appears in the event information.

Creating link categories

  1. On the Manage Links page, click New Category.
  2. Enter a Name for the category.

Tip A good category name enables visitors to understand the general topic for that category. For example, the category “Online Publications” would logically contain links to online journals and publications.

  3. Enter a Description for the category.
  4. Click Save.

Links

The Links tool enables you to provide URL links to external web sites, quicklinks, and internal course offering areas that are useful to users in your course.

All links are organized into categories. For example, a psychology course might provide the link categories General, Psychology, Reference Materials, Online Publications, etc. Categories ensure better organization of links and enable users to quickly find the information they need.
